is knowing, specifically where you want to go and generally how and when you are
to get there. Of course, this is an over simplification for a complex organization.
We
help organizations to develop a vision for who they are, and what they want to
achieve. This is accomplished through both internal and external examination.
We help organizations to develop a 360 degree view of themselves with insights
developed from multiple levels within the organization as well as inputs from
customers, suppliers and competitors.

Retreats
Management is an extremely important function staffed by unique
people. Most of the time they are focused on the demanding jobs of running the
organization. For their own good, and for the good of the organization, the management
team needs to get away with each other to plan, to bond and to renew their commitment
to the organization and each other.
We assist management in this essential
renewal process by organizing and facilitating management retreats. Our retreats
range from 4 hour mini-sessions to week-long, in-depth planning efforts. We hold
retreats both onsite and offsite and with focuses of mostly work or mostly play.
Regardless
of the format, length or focus; good thing always happen.
Long
Range Planning
Once an organization has set their course through strategy,
it is time to develop a long-range tactical plan. Long Range Planning is frequently
confused with Strategic Planning (Strategy) because of its long-range horizon.
In reality, Long Range Planning and Short Range Planning are much more similar
to each other than either of them is to Strategic Planning.
The focus of
Long Range Planning is to develop the specifics of how and when the strategy is
to be accomplished. The time horizon for Long Range Planning looks out at least
3 and more typically 5 years into the future. The Long Range Plan is typically
updated every 1-2 years, with a rolling 3 or 5 year horizon.
Some of the
techniques we employ to facilitate Long Range Planning include:

Determination Goal Setting Goal Alignment Prioritization Balanced

Short
Range Planning
Short Range Planning is much more granular than Long
Range Planning. Short Range Planning asks (and answers) the question, "What must
be done today, to achieve a goal due next quarter, that supports an objective
to be realized in two years, that is essential to fulfilling our ultimate strategy?"
Strategy
and Long Range Planning are done to set direction. Short Range Plans are developed
to be executed in the here and now, by assigned individuals with real due dates.
Techniques
we use to facilitate Short Range Planning include: Brainstorming Task

Scorecard
Balanced Scorecard is both a planning and executing methodology
that has been highly popularized in the last 10 years. It is based upon the fundamental
principle that an organization must be balanced in its tactics to achieve a sustainable
strategy. The balance is established between four key areas: Financial, Customer,
Learning & Growth and Internal Business Processes. The balance is achieved by
aligning each of the organization's goals not only against their strategy, but
also against one or more of these four areas.
