Ministry
Not BusinessLeveraging God's Resources is a ministry, not a business.
At present LGR operates as a division of CPM Solutions LLC. LGR will eventually
become a stand-alone 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, making all donations
tax deductible. Any donations received by LGR will be used for LGR special projects
and direct operating costs. Roger Jeter, will not receive a salary or any other
compensation from LGR. Roger follows the Apostle Paul inspired "tent-maker"
model for financial support. Said differently, Roger will continue working with
commercial clients to support his family while also offering his services on a
free or highly discounted basis to ministry clients. Roger anticipates a five-year
transition to achieve a targeted mix of 60% ministry - 40% commercial. During
these transition years Roger expects that there will be a greater ministry demand
for his services than he can accommodate. The concept of charging a discounted
rate for ministry services as opposed to giving that time away for free was born
out of discussions with several ministries. In these discussions I was reminded
of two principles, one Biblical and one human nature. The Biblical principal was
given by Christ himself in Luke 10 when He sends "the seventy" out into the world.
In Luke 10:7, Christ explains that their support should come from those they are
serving; "And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such
things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not
from house to house." Luke 10:7The second principal based in human
nature is that we do not highly value things we obtain for free or for a very
low cost. Free advice is frequently ignored or discounted by the recipient based
not upon its value but upon its cost (or lack thereof). By charging a discounted
fee for some of the services provided, Roger can leverage his expertise across
more ministries, sooner than would be otherwise possible. Accordingly, Roger has
developed the LGR Rate Structure, that explains which projects are free and which
require a discounted fee. |
